Launched in 2017 as a privately held company with less than fifty employees, the studio specializes in delivering an instant reel spinning experience. It is located in Australia, and its Head of Game Development is James Stewart, one of several industry veterans at the steering wheel of the label.
In 2019, the startup was noticed by Playtech - a UK-based legendary developer currently on a trail to expanding its network of outsource companies, a practice introduced by Microgaming and later picked up by many others, including Yggdrasil Gaming.
Math-led developments are at the core of Rarestone’s approach to building slots, and the studio caters to seasoned players. “Hold and respin” with its access to four in-game jackpots is the feature that made the label famous, and it was then widely used in Playtech’s co-production of the Fire Blaze series. Launched in April of 2019, the series introduced five exciting jackpot slots - Blue Wizard, Thai Shen’s Gift, Sky Queen, Pharaoh’s Daughter and Eternal Lady, about which we will speak in greater details in the Portfolio section.
“The unique strengths of each of our studios is a core element of Playtech’s content strategy, and Rarestone’s expertise in creating games with a sense of excitement and anticipation comes through clearly in the Fire Blaze series. The combination of Playtech’s innovative game design and powerful back-end technology, coupled with the scale of our distribution network, puts us in a unique position to create recognisable jackpot brands players will actively seek out.
The Fire Blaze suite offers something genuinely fresh for even the most seasoned players, with each new game featuring a different second feature to further encourage players to try every release. At the same time, ancient culture themes are perennially popular, further widening the appeal of what we believe will be a long-term successful brand”, said James Frendo, Casino Director at Playtech, about the Fire Blaze technology in his official statement.
By agreeing to the acquisition, Rarestone’s team not only gained attention and got access to Playtech’s distribution network, but also was let in on all of Playtech’s technology developments, which means more for us, the players, in the nearest future!
