According to its LinkedIn profile the company was founded in 2018. However, it was not until 2018 that the studio received its license from the Malta Gaming Authority. Just a bit later, it signed its first major deal with Relax Gaming known for its powerful aggregation platform and ventured into the world of the big casino business. By the end of 2019, the company that started off just a few months prior with no more than five initial clients managed to triple the number of tier 1 operators where it was featured.
Hacksaw Gaming is a privately held company based in Malta. Initially, its mission statement for the overcrowded market was to rethink classic gaming products, such as scratch cards and slots. Its debut portfolio of scratch cards contained 30 releases with an advertised prize pool of 500,000 credits.
The approach of the creative team to rethinking scratch cards was based on making mobile-friendly content with modern animation while remaining loyal to the simple game mechanics. Also, the company managed to deliver scratch cards with the highest non-progressive fixed prize games on the market.
In September of 2019, the studio released its first slot, Stick’em, exclusively to the lobby of Leo Vegas. Just a month later, it received a license from the United Kingdom Gambling Commission. That same year, in November, Hacksaw Gaming had a big success at SIGMA, where it received its first award in the Win of the Year nomination.
By the end of 2019, the studio added an ISO certificate to its list of licenses, as well as a number of valuable partnerships. These were with Bojoko, Hero Gaming, iSoftBet, and Kindred. The company also entered a deal with Patagonia Entertainment, a brand that recognized Hacksaw for its unique scratch cards.
The first suite of slots from the studio already has the industry talking, and Hacksaw Gaming already announced that there are still lots of surprises that it is ready to deliver with its next batch of slots.
