Legal Status for Czech Players and Casinos
Unlike many of its European neighbors that stuck to banning gambling altogether for the longest period, the Czech Republic was among those few countries where games of chance were allowed. In the 50s, a few brick and mortar casinos even managed to gain leadership of the local industry and to become the go-to places. Sazka SA was the flagman founded in the 50s. In the early 90s, it was joined by Tipsport. Then, Fortune and Synot Tip joined the game.
This season of rapid development, however, was crushed by the governmental bans. Concerned with the growing addiction of the population to gambling, the authorities limited all gambling activities and prohibited fixed-odds and casino games. Sportsbooks had to receive local licensing to continue to run services. Amendments of 2012 only added to a set of restrictions and chased the industry into a deeper dead-end.
By 2016, the discussion was raised to liberalize the laws and to allow for more freedom for the local casino businesses. This was particularly necessary considering the fact that while the local online operators had to officially apply for the local licensing and to pay a hefty fee and to submit to taxation, offshore casinos had free access to the Czech gaming community, and delivered their services without any obligations to pay any fees or taxes.
Can the players gamble online only in the locally licensed places to bet and win?
The Ministry of Finance maintains a blacklist of non-licensed online casinos that can be blocked by the authorities in accordance with the local ISPs, and players are directed to a list of official online gambling venues.
Our database can top this list with more than 400 international lobbies that welcome players from the Czech Republic. The Gambling Act # 186/2016 Coll. does not have any penalties for anyone venturing into international online libraries.
The list includes, but is not limited to Wild Vegas, PlayCroco, and Lincoln, as well as hundreds of other venues listed on this page.

Online Casinos Legal
The main law that regulates gambling in the Czech Republic is Act No. 186/2016 Coll., on Gambling (“Gambling Act”). It defines “gambling” as a game of chance, betting or a lottery in which a participant wagers a bet, while no return on such bet is guaranteed, and the win or loss is entirely or partly subject to chance or unknown circumstance. Both bets and winnings in a gambling game must be of monetary nature, except in case of in-kind lotteries, instant-win lotteries and supplemental lotteries, where the winnings can be in the form of other material things and services.

Banking in Czech Republic
All the locally licensed online operators will surely allow depositing and withdrawing in Czech koruna. With international lobbies, spotting CZK among accepted currencies is a slightly more complicated task. In our database, about 2% of the brands, which are less than 20 brands, support it. Among them, there is Casino Cruise, as well as Betsson and Kassu.
Alternatively, for this country, we can recommend Euros, which significantly expands the number of options to hundreds of venues. Also, consider gambling in cryptocurrency, which becomes more and more popular and user-friendly. Here is our newbies’ guide to Bitcoin-gaming.
As for the payment methods, Visa and MasterCard are in the lead, listed in more than 350 lobbies, including Vera&John and LuckyEmperor. Prepaid vouchers are another popular option to deposit, and places like 4StarsGames or Roxy Palace, as well as 200+ other operators, accept it.
eKonto is the local payment system, and it is integrated into around 30 websites in our database, including Prime Casino, RedKings, and MagicBox. Neteller and Skrill are among the internationally accepted and highly popular methods listed in more than 300 cashiers, including Aztec Riches and Slotty Vegas.
Local banks have no problem processing gambling deposits and withdrawals, and cashouts usually take no longer than a day.
According to the local laws, players are also required to pay taxes from casino winnings, but there are a few peculiarities to this process. The tax return should be paid according to the percentage and set of specifications listed in the Act.
Popular Czech Games
While things are a bit tough for the local online operators, with a heavy load of license fees and taxes, the local software development industry is thriving. Some of the biggest European studios are actually based in CZ, including Endorphina, Synot, Apollo Games, and Mancala Gaming.
Czech players are also very fond of content from the standard group of industry leaders, which are Microgaming, Rival, Net Entertainment, Play’n GO, Novomatic, RealTime Gaming, Yggdrasil Gaming, ELK Studios, and IGT.
Poker, roulette, and blackjack are by no doubt popular, but the peculiarity and historic background of the Czech market made it particularly fond of slot machines. There are no specific preferences to themes or features, and anything new and reeled is destined to gain attention next to some of the oldest and established releases.
In American Roulette, there are 38 black and red slots that are numbered as 1-36, one zero, and a double zero, both of which are colored green
Bingo is a game of chance played with different randomly drawn numbers which the player matches against numbers on his 5×5 card.

New Online Casinos in Czech Republic
While the local authorities are not quick to add more casinos to the in-country list, while the operators cannot always afford to buy licenses, new CZ casinos rarely appear. However, the international arena is thriving, with at least ten new and trustworthy new names popping up on a yearly basis.
So, all you need to do is adapt a search filter in our search for the year you are interested in. Then, specify the language, currency, banking methods, as well as software and bonuses, and pick the most suitable locations.
