Western Saloon is a video slot created by Grupo MGA. It is a Spanish game development company based in Parque Tecnológico del Vallés that has been around since 1976. In the early days, the leader of the studio, Jaume Sanahuja Junyent was responsible for delivering the first “payout machine” to Spain. This form of entertainment was headed straight for the gaming centers. Recently, the manufacturer decided to launch its games online and build electronic roulette tables.

Tip: If you wish to keep an eye on the label’s updates, check out its LinkedIn account.

Slot Theme

Western Saloon is based on two different games, each with a different location in the saloon. The graphics atmosphere is a little retro, with an overall slot machine layout.

The main game is set downstairs in the saloon. The reels are placed behind the bar with a scroll on the right-hand side to support the paytable. There is plenty of information available on the screen, plus several counters that will start to make sense in a moment. In the upper game, you will be climbing upstairs to the corridor. A cowboy holding a handful of cards and a gun is accompanied by a beautiful girl, with the new set of reels on the side.

Western Saloon manages to recreate a classic western atmosphere with simple graphics. As for the basic rules, we will tackle them in the next section.

Paytable Explained

Western Saloon has rather complex gameplay in comparison with other modern slot games. Spanning over two different reel sets, we will stick to the main game first to give you a proper introduction to the basic rules. The three visible reels include only one payline, clearly indicating where symbol combinations must appear during the game to trigger some cash rewards. You can bet 1, 2 or 3 credits per spin here. Each spin can also award up to four nudges, which will apply to individual reels automatically to try and form a winning combination.

  • Nudges - an advance function allows you to move reels forward one place seeking a winning combination. The number of advances can be between one and four.

  • Holds - allows up to two reels to be held up during the game to increase the probability of getting a prize.

  • Up your reward - sometimes after a winning spin you get this opportunity. If this happens, you will get a new spin and you will get a higher prize. You can spin several times

And as it is the case for most reeled machines nowadays, Western Saloon also features an Autoplay mode. Activate it to let the reels spin on their own for a moment.

Special Icons

  • The Treasure Chest is the Scatter and can only be found in the main game. Each time one or more appear on the payline, a specific amount of bonus points is awarded. You must use these points together with regular credits to gain access to the upper games and spin the reels there.

  • Keep also an eye out for the Sheriff Star, which is the Wild card of the upper game, and the tiny bonus symbol that will give you access to a mini-game.

Regular Symbols

  • The different fruit symbols, namely the Oranges, Lemons, Plums, and Strawberries are the most common icons in the base game. You can win from approximately 1 to 10 credits with them, depending on your current bet level.

  • The Bells are a bit more worth, with a maximum reward of 12 credits.

  • Finally, the Green, Red and Blue Diamonds top up the list and can even be mixed together for a small win. Three blue diamonds on a payline will trigger a big win of 240 credits.

  • In the upper game, you will find mostly hats, decks of cards and revolvers on the new set of reels. But the green, blue and red 7s are the most interesting symbols here, also worth up to 240 credits.

  • In the upper game, the Green, Blue, and Red 7s combines to bring you to 240 credits.

Bonuses and Additional Winning Possibilities

The Western Saloon mini-games are accessed randomly when you get a certain amount of bonus points. Three “lights” in the main game will give you access to the to the League-Prize draw. Three Cards in the upper round will let you enter the Suma Prize game whereas three Guns will trigger the Prize Roulette. If you find three Sombreros in the upper level, you will unlock another game.
