The sequel to the original Thunderkick slot is now out, and Pink Elephants 2 is offering players an improved top jackpot, lower volatility (not by much though), and many of the previous features and things that made it interesting. It’s an upgrade, to be sure, though not a completely different one from the original. With plenty of fans that enjoyed the first game of the series, it’s time to dig in and see what kind of offer this sequel makes.
Pink Elephants 2 Slot Machine [ Top Wins of 10,000x the Stake] Reviewed
Sequels are tricky, no doubt about that. If the first was a hit, then you’ve got a readymade audience of keen consumers to pitch your sale to. Or, do you play it safe and rehash the original with a few tweaks?
Either way, Swedish developer Thunderkick has chosen the second option and taken its 2017 smash-hit slot Pink Elephants, made a few changes to the visuals, and fine-tuned the math model. The result is Pink Elephants 2, released on 06.05.2020.
UPGRADES...
The first impressions won’t dazzle those that played the original, but it’s an upgrade, nonetheless. For one, the 6-reel, the 4-row grid has left the arid deserts and shifted to a quasi-galactic scene full of mountains, stars, and a grassy field littered with what looks like broken Stargates.
The title of the slot has certain connotations and the visual representation certainly lives up to them which is a great start to the follow-up slot.
PAYTABLE EXPLAINED
Pink Elephants 2 is a video slot with six reels, four rows and 4,096 ways to win. Pays are awarded for two to six matching symbols on adjacent reels from left to right only. You can travel to the Tibetian highlands on desktop or mobile from 0.10 to 100 credits per spin. The game has high volatility (square root of the variance is 86.89) with an RTP of 96.13%.
SPECIAL ICONS
- A mystical ‘W’ is the wild symbol, appearing on reels two to six only and substituting for all regular pay symbols. Like before, there isn’t a lot more to do in the base game other than wait with bated breath for the bonus game to rear up and shake the game.
- The magical golden peanut still acts as the scatter.
REGULAR SYMBOLS
- Looking at the lineup of symbols, instead of the lemur family making up the premium symbols, we get a tribe of goats this time which Thunderkick has named the blue, green, orange, and purple goat. This makes sense when you consider the new mountainous setting.
- The mythical pink elephant is the highest paying symbol – six of the spooky looking creature are worth 10x your stake.
- The pay symbols start at the low end with the card royals from 9 through to A, held on carved rocks, and awarding 2.2x to 4x your stake for a single six of a kind.
BONUS AND ADDITIONAL POSSIBILITIES
Just like with the visuals, Thunderkick chose the safe route when it comes to features. They kept most of them intact and only implemented a slight change to the symbol upgrade in the free spins. However, that is not all as they also cranked up the maximum win potential from 8,200x to 10,000x your bet.
The random Mystery Scatter symbol makes a return in the sequel. The feature can trigger at the start of any spin in the base game and will add up to five golden peanut scatters to random positions on the reels and thus making it easier to trigger the bonus game.
Either organically or via the random feature, you will need to have three or more scatters in view at the end of a spin to trigger the Free Spins feature. Three, four, five or six scatters will get you 7, 11, 15, and 19 free spins respectively. Two to six scatters landing on a free spin, will retrigger 3 to 11 free spins, no limits.
Before the round starts, the scenery darkens and the four goat symbols appear to the left, each with its own meter. Elephant symbols can appear marked with an orb, each adding one count to the current meter. Once completed, the respective symbol will turn into the next higher goat symbol and award +1 free spin.
Filling the last meter will see all goat symbols turn into the top-paying pink elephants for the remainder of the feature. The maximum you can pocket in a free spin round has been noted with 10,000x your bet.
