Microgaming Signs an Agreement for the Horror Film-Based Slot
Microgaming, the pioneer software manufacturer, has signed a licensing agreement that gives the company the right to create a new slot machine, based on one of the most popular horror films of all times, Halloween. The game will be released later this year, boasting a range of well-known film characters and the recognizable and terrifying soundtrack.
Microgaming gives its fans an opportunity to play a slot machine, based on the iconic horror film. Produced in 1978, the film Halloween holds a confident position in top 100 greatest movies of all times. What is more, it was named “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant” in 2006. Despite the small budget of only $300,000, the film has collected around $70m in income all over the world.
“The game will be released later this year.”
“Halloween is a true classic and set the standard for modern horror films. It was immeasurably influential in the slasher genre of movies, so it is great to be working with such an iconic and respected brand. Embracing all the elements of what made the movie such a success, our games team are busy developing a slot for release later in the year,” commented David Reynolds, Games Publisher at Microgaming.
The film was directed by John Carpenter and starred Jamie Lee Curtis and Donald Pleasence. Its plot unfolds around Michael Myers, who killed his sister in 1963 in a small town. Fifteen years later he returns to that place and looks for more victims.
Ryan Freimann, Senior Vice President of Compass International Pictures, says: “We are excited to team up with Creative Licensing and Microgaming to bring Michael Myers and Halloween home to all of our loyal fans in the best possible ways through top licensees who create products we feel honor the character, film, and franchise."
