They knew it would not be a walk in the park to make a statement as a new brand when there are so many awesome content developing studios around. And yet, they did, with their 8 slots out, including the Banana Bar, and quite a few promising releases still in the pipeline. They also understood that it is hard to make a breakthrough in the world of mobile gaming, and yet – they did with their lightweight engine and a vertical mode for slots. 

Today KeyToCasino sits down for a chat with the CEO of Gamzix, Aleksandr Kosogov, who speaks openly about the demands of the modern market, the studio’s first games, upcoming slots, and plans for further expansion.

Congratulations on such an impressive jump from a newbie startup to the hot talk of the industry! Please, introduce us to the team behind Gamzix.

Thanks for your congratulations! Our team is not so big, but every member is a highly skilled professional. I always think that there is no matter what/how and where to develop a product, the only one thing that really matters – WHO will be with you while you’re developing it. 

What motivated you to move into the competitive content developing market? What was the niche that you felt your production can fill?

Our knowledge and skills were our motivation – when you know what players want and you know what your partners want, you can bring all this knowledge together and combine it with the skills of your team. In this case, you receive a perfect recipe on how to become a competitive company on the market.

When we aware on the stage of planning of our product we divided our long-term roadmap into several parts:

  • 1. Developing games with middle level mathematic, but with the high-quality engine which supports all OS/browsers/platforms (1-6 months)
  • 2. Developing marketing tools because it’s the main to attract players (first year)
  • 3. Developing best games ever with the best mathematic, exclusive features, etc. ☺ 

Please, tell us more about the unique engine that the studio created. 

First, we started the development of our games from vertical (portrait) mobile versions. While all mobile devices are producing games with bigger screens the players prefer to play slots holding mobile in a vertical orientation. And also our mission was to create a lightweight engine – to be honest, I hate when all new applications/games load for several minutes when you are lying on a beach and don’t have good mobile internet, that’s why we are trying to do the best to give the opportunity to play our games from any place in the world with any quality of internet.

What is your target market? Would you say that the players in this market are a tough crowd to impress?

We started with CIS, Latam, and some European countries. We are also really interested in Africa and Asia.

You have launched with 7 slots in the portfolio. What are your criteria for a great game? 

15.09.2020 we have already launched our 8th game – the Book of Symbols slot. Frankly saying I don’t think we already have a great game for the moment, they are good but not great. But one of the games that will be launched until the end of 2020 might become a great game. The main criteria are not to be so complicated. It should attract players with unique features, but the player doesn’t have to spend time on reading rules before playing the game.

How would you characterize the slot developing industry today and, in your experience,, what does it take for a newbie studio to succeed?

It’s a very competitive and aggressive industry today and this is what drives you to wake up every morning and to do the best you can. As I told previously the only one thing that matters when you are developing a product is your team. You can have millions of great ideas, but if you will not have a great team to play the “game” you will not win.

How do you feel about proceeding to grow in a new economy, with the pandemic, some companies closing, and the challenges that the year 2020 brought to those that managed to stay in business?

Every time when there is an economic crisis it’s a time of new ideas. Everyone who cannot change his mind and adapt to new rules will lose. We can’t change the situation in the world, but we can change our perception to it, even if we need to start everything from scratch.

Can you share some behind the scenes details about any upcoming slots? 

The next slot games to be released till the end of October is Hoonga Boonga slot and Hotlife slot. Hotlife will be our first game with a unique feature and we hope that it will perform great!
