Snake Rattle & Roll Slot Machine (with Casinos) Reviewed

Released in 2017, Snake Rattle & Roll is a video slot created by Novomatic. The company was founded in 1980 and began with the manufacturing of land-based games. In 2011, Novomatic aimed to have the same success online as it did in land-based casinos and took over Greentube Internet Entertainment Solutions. Since then, Novomatic has had great online success with state of the art and innovative online games.

The studio offers more than 100 online casino releases, which include a great range of slots. All gaming content from Novomatic is fair as they use RNG to ensure that all outcomes are random. Novomatic games can be played through instant play with Flash. The software cannot be downloaded, so you can only play from your browser. The software is compatible on most mobile devices, which include iOS, Android and Windows devices.

Slot Theme

Where do you normally find snakes, besides the pet store? Well, usually in jungles, hiding among the leaves that cover the ground, in search of their next meal. Sometimes the location is not all that glamorous, but in Snake, Rattle & Roll, everything is about authenticity and adventure.

Novomatic hasn’t changed its matrix design up that much, for you still get a mixture of traditional icons, e.g. card values, and then images exclusive to the brand. However, the imagery behind the grid is most impressive: we see a dense array of leaves, their edges so crisp that they look touchable. Then you have a cheeky snake that pops up in the corners of the game, staring out at you, egging you on to play. And if that was not enough, you then have a 3D snake charmer sat on the right-hand side of the screen, occasionally moving about.

All in all, the brand has outdone themselves with this design, finally introducing some contemporary style into its slot machines, and boy oh boy does it make a difference. The level of class we feel coming from the game has increased tenfold, just because of the design. What a change in just one online activity.

Paytable Explained

Snake, Rattle & Roll is a five-reel slot with three rows and twenty fixed paylines; those reels spin within a neat organic frame with a jungle backdrop and our snake charmer relaxing in the bottom right-hand corner. The different jungle-themed symbols of Novomatic’s Snake Rattle and Roll give prizes when they are lined up consecutively on adjacent reels from left to right. Your total bet amount per spin can lie between 0.20 and 40 credits. You can change your settings by pressing special +/- knobs next to the BET / LINE button.

Autoplay can be enabled at any time but note that, if the game is in this mode, no settings can be changed, and no wins can be gambled. The Return to Player Ratio (RTP) is 95.04%.

Special Icons

  • A red snake is the game’s Wild, which slides across the reels. Instead of merely subbing for other icons and then disappearing, they slide about left or right, changing icons as they go. This is the Sliding Wilds feature. The Wild will substitute for all others to form winning combinations except for the dice scatter icons. Moreover, if you find five Wilds, you will be awarded 120 times your wager. In case, four or three such icons land on the reels you will get 56x and 32 times your stake.
  • Look out too for the pair of Dice – land three, four or five of these anywhere on the reels and you will trigger the Snakes and Ladders feature.

Regular Symbols

Novomatic designed the following icons to further enhance the theme of the slot. So, you will see.

  • The top paying symbol in Snake Rattle & Roll is the Snake, Rattle & Roll logo that wins you 80x when landing five in a row. You will be awarded 56x and 32x your wager for collecting four and three such icons respectively.
  • Card symbols show up on the reels and make up the bulk of the symbols. They have the smallest payouts. Thus, five Aces and Kings will award you the maximum of 56x for five identical pictograms. The same number of Queens, Jacks, and Tens brings 40 times your bet. A quartet of Ace and King images will offer you 40x whereas finding four Queens, Jacks, and Tens will get you 24x your staked amount. Also, four of the kind combination of Tens and Nines are worth 100 coins. Lastly, three of the kind combination of Aces and Kings is worth 24x, while the trio of Queens, Jacks, and Tens – 16x your bet.

Bonuses and Additional Winning Possibilities

Snake Rattle & Roll has several Bonus Games. During gameplay, you have the random occurrence where the Snake Charmer will play his flute and unleash other Wilds onto the grid, increasing your payouts once again. This is the Snake Charmer Bonus feature.

Even though this title has a jungle edge, it is clearly based on the traditional board game of Snakes and Ladders, and so how fitting that one of the bonus rounds is of the original game. Spruced up to look and play much better, however. To activate the bonus, you will need to collect between three and five of the Red Dice; this is your equivalent of rolling them, the more you get, the more rolls you have. Throw the dice to move around the board in this next stage to collect cash prizes, and more dice rolls, Bonus spins and if you’re lucky you can make it all the way to the top for the progressive jackpot prize. Should you be lucky and get a Snake Eyes (that is a two across both dice combined) on your first roll, you will watch as the charmer attempts to speed along to the jackpot. Sometimes he will manage it and others he will not, but part of the fun is in just watching him go.

If you have won some Bonus spins in the previous board game section, you will then get to play these on different sets of reels. You may have noticed that the paylines here are fixed, but what you may have overlooked is the fact that they change in size depending on what free games you’re playing. All gamers will start off with 20, a decent if not overwhelming amount of room to work with, but should you get yellow, blue or red free games, the number will change. Thus, yellow spins adhere to the 20 win lines rule, so you will not notice any change, however, the blue game increases up to 40, which should mean more ways to win. Then the red level comes and blows them both out of the water with 50 paylines, the highest amount possible in the entire game.

Any win can be gambled by clicking the ‘Gamble’ button below the reels and here you have the chance to double that amount (or lose it all) by predicting the outcome of a red/black card game.
