Ever thought modernity was overrated? Isle of Man-based software developer Microgaming seems to agree since they continue to release fruit-themed video slots into the market. However, it should be said that Elementals, which came into existence in 2010, is superior to most of them. The technicolor 5-reel slot features the four classical elements of earthly life, including air, earth, fire, and water, and it also offers gamers the chance to win an enticing 5,000 credit jackpot. Would you like to know more about this unique reeled machine?
Elementals Slot Machine [a Bespoke Bonus Round] Reviewed
One of the pioneers in the industry, Microgaming founded the first online betting establishment and then moved on to focus on creating software platforms and develop games for other online casinos. Famous for their impressive collection of RNG games boasting high quality, the progressive jackpot slots, the excellent mobile platform Quickfire, and the real dealers dressed up as Playboy bunnies.
Elements Everywhere
Elementals action takes place on a purple 5x3 grid. It is the standard layout, but the cartoonish symbols stand out brightly on the reels and there are a few special ones to watch out for. Icons include cherries, raspberries, limes, watermelons, and oranges.
Imagine if there were only four X Men and each of them had a different elemental power. The four main characters of this game are earth, wind, fire, and water which take their place on each of the five purple reels. The ‘fire’ symbol, for instance, resembles the Daredevil action hero, while the ‘water’ icon is represented by a powerful female emerging from the deep. ‘Earth’ is a brawny goliath or golem holding a massive rock and ‘air’ is a floating purple wraith.
The regular icons show a red flashing box when a winning combination is made whilst the four characters and wild symbols produce multiple levels of animation.
A standard music track is used as background music and the reels spin to a standard sound bite too. There are some unique effects though, including when scatter wins occur or when wilds create a win. Each Elemental superhero also has its own sound effect.
Paytable Explained
Elementals slot is played on 20 configurable paylines, meaning the player is free to choose how many he wishes to activate. The game also features a helpfully wide betting range, with coin sizes starting at just 0.01 and rising to 0.50. Choose to play on a single line and bet just 0.01 per spin or activate all 20 – plus the maximum of 10 coins per line – to stake 100 credits on a single roll. The choice is entirely yours.
There are two control panels marked expert and regular (default). The expert mode adds auto-play to the control area which is perfect if you prefer hands-free gambling. The Return to Player ratio or RTP is 96.15%.
Special Icons
In addition to the fruit and character symbols, there is a Wild and Scatter.
- The Wild replaces other symbols to help you form wins, and it also doubles the prizes of combinations it helps to form. Not only that, but the wild is linked with its own values in the pay-table. Indeed, it awards the 5,000 jackpot for five in a line. It also pays 1,000 for four, 100 for three and 15 for two, when playing at max bet. The wild cannot stand-in for the scatter, or the Free Spins icon, though.
- Scatter wins, as usual, are multiplied by the total number of credits staked. They are as follows: 200 for five, 15 for four, two for three, and one for two. The scatter does not generate free spins, but the Free Spins ‘Sun’ symbol does.
Regular Symbols
- While the fruit symbols offer modest payouts, the four-character icons are more lucrative. At the top end, you can win 300 for five ‘Fire’ icons or 250 for five Water symbols.
- It is also 250 for five Earths, and 200 for five Air symbols. Only the highest-paying characters symbols – fire and water – offer payouts for combinations of two matching icons, although they are quite trifling in any case (two for two, in the case of the water; three for two, in the case of fire).
Bonuses and Additional Winning Possibilities
On the Elementals slot gameplay control panel, you will see there is a gamble button, and that button will only become activated and illuminated when out have spun in one or more winning combinations.
By clicking on it, you can then try and double the value or quadruple the value of the winning payout you achieved on the base game by guessing correctly either the color or suit of a playing card that will be dealt out to you when you have chosen the color or suit. A correct guess lets you take the gamble game another time or you can collect your increased payout.
There are also special scatter symbols that can be spun in on reels numbers one and five, and if you see both of them spinning in from a single spin on each of those two reels you then trigger the bonus game.
That bonus game is a set of 20 free spins on which any and all winning payouts you then spin in are doubled, and to give you even more chances of winning being you can re-trigger the free spins in the same way as you initially triggered them!
