Released on April 21st, 2020 this is a non-progressive video slot. It has high volatility and a return to player percentage reaching 96%. Within one spin, a win can hit as much as 250,000 coins. Getting to this advertised jackpot is in most cases an unrealistic assignment, but luckily, the game offers lots of other winning mechanisms to immerse in.
The slot’s developer and provider is Barcrest, one of the veterans of the industry. While this has been the studio’s win card for the longest period, lately Barcrest has been losing its positions to newer and more ambitious content manufacturing brands that are willing to use some of the latest visuals.
Truth be told, we still think that Barcrest is on top of its game when it comes to supplying its instant slots with all sorts of features. But we do also believe that there is room for improvement when it comes to both selecting topics and designing games. It seems like Barcrest remains loyal to its target audience - a smaller group of traditional players. Therefore, it is fully understandable how a game with the 80’s hit theme appears in the studio’s portfolio.
Tip: Barcrest has been in the industry for many years now and has managed to accumulate a big portfolio of games. Head to our database for more of its content.
THE STORY
Even if you missed the 80’s boom of camp movies and can hardly remember the essence of the story, you most certainly heard the famous: “Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice!”
This legendary spell was proclaimed by the Maitland’s - a recently deceased couple determined to keep the new owners off what used to be the couple’s house. So, they turned for help from Beetlejuice - a ghost introduced as someone to put the life in the afterlife.
Interestingly, the actors portraying the Maitland’s - those being Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis - are missing from the grid, and we suspect it is due to contract disagreements. However, many of the other iconic characters are still present, including not only Michael Keaton’s Beetlejuice, but also Winona Ryder's personage, the Head Shrinker, Miss Argentina, the Serpent, and card icons from Ace to ten.
There are cartoonish visuals all within the original stylistics of the game, as well as the two sets of reels.
PAYTABLE EXPLAINED
There are five reels and between two to six symbols per each of these, which allows players to form a different amount of win lines during each new spin. In addition to up to a dozen rows, another novelty introduced by Barcrest to the Megaways mechanism is the stakes per spin.
While usually, this mechanism will class for wagers under thirty credits per spin, here, between 0.10 cent to 500 credits can be fixed, which invites both low and high rollers to participate in the action. We’re talking about potential wins across 248,832 bet lines.
Special Icons
- Wilds will perform as substitutes, but they will not pay on their own.
- Scattered movie ticket will unlock free spins.
- The Ghost is a symbol unlocking the Mystery Feature, but it will not pay on its own.
Regular Icons
- Beetlejuice is the highest-paid character on the grid worth up to 5x the line stake. Unlike all other characters required to appear in at least three-of-a-kind combinations, this character must land in at least a two-of-a-kind mix in order to pay.
- The Head Shrinker, Miss Argentina, the Serpent and Winona’s character will pay medium value.
- Card icons from Ace to ten will pay the least.
BONUSES & ADDITIONAL WINNING POSSIBILITIES
Randomly in the base game and in the free spins, the ghost will replace either of the regular symbols to provide better payouts. As soon as you collect three or more Scatters, between eight to sixteen free spins will be available.
While in the base game, cascading reels are integrated as another winning mechanism typical for Megaways, these tumbling reels are stripped of multipliers. These do come back in the free spins and are unlimited. They also do not reset back to zero when the wins stop and increase by 1x in the set of tumbles.
Free spins can be retriggered within the round.
